About Us
As part of The Mommies Network, ToledoAreaMommies.com is a free community for moms in Toledo and surrounding areas in Ohio as well as Monroe and surrounding areas in Michigan. We realize that all moms need local support -- and who can't use another friend? ToledoAreaMommies.com offers a simple way to connect with local moms for friendship, support and fun. Members meet on our private discussion forums to share information on everything from where to get the best haircut to tips on transitioning to a "big kid" bed. Each month, we also offer many face-to-face events for our members, their children and their families. Register today to access our discussion forums, events calendar and more! It's free and we'll keep your info secure and private.
Mission
To provide a safe, secure, FREE place for mothers to find support and encouragement from other mothers and to empower them to be better women, parents and community leaders.
Philosophy
No one should have to pay a fee to make a friend, so we offer free membership to any mother within the community who wishes to join. Members gain camaraderie and support through an online forum that is available 24 hours a day and events around the area where mothers can meet face-to-face and develop real friendships that can last a lifetime.
We believe that, working together, mothers can change the world - one family, one neighborhood, one community at a time. ToledoAreaMommies is a connecting force, helping us each to make a difference in our own lives, in our families and in the places we call home.
About Us
ToledoAreaMommies.com developed from Site Administrator Jeanette Albright's desire to have a fun, supportive and free group for moms in her area to share resources and make new friends. Jeanette's interest in The Mommies Network started as a member of DetroitMetroMommies, which was too far away and eventually closed. She thought, "There is a need here." With one urban area just a few miles north and another just a few miles south of her, Jeanette saw a need to make a connection between those areas and all that they have to offer to local moms. She also felt her knowledge of local childbirth resources could be a benefit to all moms. ToledoAreaMommies opened in October 2009.
We chat online in a private forum - discussing everything from the best photographers to the worst temper tantrums and all that lies between - and meet-up regularly at member-driven events around town. Whether it's a late night commiseration on a crying baby (there are 4 am posts to prove it) or a Mom's Night Out, ToledoAreaMommies provides what our members need, when and how they need it.
But ToledoAreaMommies is more than just a community of moms. It's moms in and for the community. Our members work full time, stay home full time, work part time, represent many races, are pregnant for the first time, are adoptive moms, were adopted themselves, recently moved to the area, have lived here all our lives, have twins, are happy with one, are single moms, are searching out schools and have watched their kids graduate. In other words, we are a reflection of mothers in the real world. And we help out our neighbors as much as ourselves through organized fundraisers and other charity events - specifically those focused on providing for mothers and their children.
